After completing a degree in History and Communication Studies, Samantha Simmonds secured a place on the prestigious postgraduate course in Broadcast Journalism at City University. Samantha Simmonds earned her stripes as a local radio reporter in the North of England and then became a TV news producer first at Channel 5 news and then at the BBC, eventually becoming a reporter for BBC Breakfast and BBC London News. Along the way Samantha was one of the first journalists from the UK to cover the post 9/11 events on the ground in New York. She was also quickly on the scene of the Edgware Road bombing on July 7th interviewing survivors as they emerged from underground.

As a reporter Samantha Simmonds also covered the Soham murders, the Potters Bar train crash and the explosion of the space Shuttle Columbia. In addition while at the BBC News channel Samantha Simmonds presented a travel programme ‘Gate 24’ a weekly roundup of travel issues and destinations with a story. Samantha Simmonds joined Sky News in 2005 which in her own words is an incredible company to work for. Samantha got her first break in presenting when the overnight presenter went sick and she was asked to step in at the last minute, and she has never looked back.

She’s had some great opportunities at Sky -not least presenting outside Buckingham Palace for the Royal wedding and at the opening ceremony of the London 2012 Olympics. Samantha Simmonds has a middle eastern background and has a passion for cooking sumptuous Persian food . She has 3 young children who keep her on her toes and usually run rings around her! When she gets the chance she loves to indulge the adrenalin junkie in her parachuting, para-sailing, hang gliding, scuba diving, bungee jumping and rally driving next on the list a sky dive!
